ALBUQUERQUE AREA GREEN INFRASTRUCTURE AND LOW IMPACT DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP
WHO: Arid LID.org is a multi-agency, nonprofit group dedicated to educating the public and professionals on low impact development (LID) and Green Infrastructure (GI) as well as innovative, decentralized approaches to stormwater management that have been gaining popularity over the past 20 years.
WHAT: An innovative workshop that will teach principles of LID and GI within the local context of central New Mexico 's climate and region.
WHEN: March 23 & 24, 2010
WHERE: Rotunda at UNM Science and Technology Park
WHY: Low impact development, green infrastructure and stormwater management are all interconnected in protecting and preserving our area's watershed, including our rivers, streams and our overall water supply. This workshop will feature special presentations on topics such as Managing Wet Weather and Green Infrastructure, Green Infrastructure and Low Impact Development for Semi-Arid Climates, and will also explore local challenges as well as incentives and codes surrounding LID and GI. Guest speakers will include experts from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, local government officials, researchers and experts in the field, scientists and educators.
This workshop is designed for water resource professionals, drainage and flood control engineers, architects and landscape architects, developers, municipal officials and watershed organizations. Professional development credits will be available.
ADMISSION: Admission is $40 and registration is limited to 120 participants. Registrations (through the website) will be accepted beginning Monday, January 25, 2010.
